Find & Dine Application

Updated: Nov 11

Our team worked together to design the Find and Dine Restaurant App. This app was created to streamline and automate the restaurant experience for users from start to finish. During the design process, we focused on two key questions:

●      What do users find most important before, during, and after their dining experience?

●      How can we implement unique features that will simplify and enhance that experience?

With these questions in mind, we shaped two core design solutions: the QR Code and the Green/Red Indicator. Through these designs, the “Find and Dine Restaurant App,” aims to make dining more personalized, efficient, and enjoyable.

To test these functionalities in action the below storyboard surrounding the user experience with the application was created:

  1. Susan and Tom decide to celebrate their 10th anniversary at Texas de Brazil, using $100 gift coupon from their family.

  2. They reserve a table for 8pm via the restaurant's mobile app. Tom selects outdoor seating by the lake.

  3. Upon arriving at the restaurant, they scan a QR code at the entrance, which assigns their table and waiter, and confirms their reservation,

  4. They are welcomed by the host and guided to their assigned table.

  5. Once seated, Susan and Tom access the digital menu via the app, where they preselect drinks and meats like sausage, filet mignon, and lamb chop.

  6. The kitchen is alerted, and the server is notified when their food is ready.

  7. Using their phones, they control the service flow by selecting "green" in the app to indicate that they are open to communication with their server and "red" to show that they do not need assistance.

  8. During the meal, Tome realizes he did not specify they were celebrating an anniversary. He switches the indicator to "green" and navigates to the service tab to inform the server ahead of time without alerting his wife. The app surprised them with celebratory music and the waiter presented them with a complimentary chocolate cake for their anniversary.

  9. After dining, Tom uses their $100 coupon to pay the balance. Payment is processed automatically through his saved card.

  10. After finishing their meal and paying, they are prompted to leave feedback via app.
