TrackPac Physical Prototype

Updated: Nov 11

The TrackPac, a smart backpack, is designed as a multifunctional accessory that is tailored to the needs of modern users who rely on their devices to stay productive, connected and secure. This product features built-in wearable technology that goes beyond conventional standards by incorporating wireless charging, anti-theft technology, location tracking, and a smart inventory system.

Key Functionalities:

  1.  Wireless Charging: Equipped with a charging pocket, the TrackPac provides wireless charging capabilities to compatible devices such as smartphones, tablets, and earbuds. Users can simply place their devices in the backpack’s pocket to start charging, removing the need for cords and cables that can easily become tangled, creating a smoother user experience. This feature is especially useful during long commutes and travel, ensuring that users always have access to power while they are on the go.

  2. Anti-Theft Notifications: TrackPac integrates an anti-theft system that alerts the user if someone attempts to tamper with or open the bag without authorization. This functionality involves sensors around the zipper areas that trigger an alarm notification when the bag is accessed unexpectedly. TrackPac contains a fingerprint scanner as well as a facial recognition system at the convenience of the user, who gets to decide which method of securing their belongings works best for them. By providing instant alerts, this feature enhances security, particularly in crowded or public places where theft is more likely.

  3. Location Tracking: For peace of mind, TrackPac offers GPS based location tracking. If misplaced or stolen, users can open the accompanying mobile app to see the bag’s last known location. This feature is particularly useful for users who travel and users who are students, who move between various locations throughout the day.

  4. Inventory Management: TrackPac uses sensor-based technology to track the items placed inside of it, allowing users to keep a digital inventory of their belongings. In the accompanying app, users can see what items are currently in the bag and are able to add and remove items manually. This feature prevents users from accidentally leaving behind important items, improving organization, and reducing the stress of not knowing whether they have certain items with them.

  5. Weight Monitor: On the top left corner of the TrackPac, we’ve designed a weight monitor, which serves to measure and display the weight of the items inside the bag, helping users manage load more effectively. Its primary purposes include overload prevention, travel restrictions compliance, and organization. You can find the battery life displayed on the top left of the TrackPac.

  6. Battery Life: This part of the design shows the remaining power level of any built-in battery pack for the portable charging system. You can find the battery life displayed on the top right of the TrackPac.
